I'm in the process of mocking things up prior to engine installation, and not sure if I have the right part. There were a number of parts that were misplaced by the previous owner, and the ball stud to the block is one. I have looked through the assembly manual, a few pictures online, which has left me more confused. I have a new ball stud, however the only hole that it goes into is more towards the back by the oil pressure fitting. The pictures that I could find, including L88s, seem to show it more forward of the oil pressure fittings (looks to be inline to rear freeze plug between cylinder 5 & 7). If this more forward location is correct, who sells the correct ball stud, as I have the one from Paragon and the diameter is too large to fit that forward hole.

The correct location for the stud is the more forward location that you mention (i.e. near the rear-most freeze plug).
What is the stud that you have? Can you provide a Paragon part number and/or a photo of the stud?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1970 LS5 clutch ball stud
Apparently when you get rest you can see them issue better. Like when you look at it before going to work, and see that you weren't looking far enough forward for the right hole. Teach me to do stuff that late.- Top
