    C2 Ammeter not working

It is my understanding that there should be voltage to both leads going to the terminals of the ammeter gauge. I have voltage to the blk lead but not the blk and white lead. I do however have voltage at the horn relay on the blk and white lead. Where should I start to find the break?

Firewall electrical connector blocks/plugs under the master cylinder.

The connectors are down low outboard of the clutch push rod.
Pull these connectors CAREFULLY and examine them for green corrosion, bent/pushed-in pins etc...
Be careful you don't break off the hard plastic "tabs" on the firewall-side plugs that secure the connectors - that's no fun at all.

I have the same problem "C2 ammeter does not function". Have never removed my bulkhead connectors. Will attempt today,

Question for Frank or others that have successfully removed them. Do the connectors on the engine side of the firewall come straight out? Are there tabs that have to be squeezed to release them as pulling force is applied? If they are tight I assume it is not wise to slightly wiggle them left to right - correct?. Essentially, I am asking, how are they removed without doing damage to them or the other side?

There are two plastic clips that hold each plug into it's block. Squeeze these so they clear their latches (very easy to do and very visible). Each plug/block has 8 connectors inside. Pull straight out...........a little wiggling should not hurt anything once the two main clips are free.

Biggest issue is probably brittle wiring at the plugs, or brittle plastic connectors/clips. Probably okay right now, but if done during winter time, use a hair dryer to warm things up.

Many pictures abound of the connectors if you search here or google for information.

              Larry - thanks!
I did a quick search for threads on "bulkhead connectors" - found a number of them, one in particular was great, it included a close up pic of the connectors and additional advice from Joe Lucia on how to clean them. Here is the link to the thread.

I had the same problem, The link below is to that thread. after you get the under hood harness disconnected from the firewall. Clean the terminals, I used a small wire brush and dremel tool with wire brushes. Then clean it again, and maybe again. Then carefully take a small screwdriver or pick and spread the connectors.

That was my problem and my meter works fine now.

Thanks everyone, it was the bulkhead connectors. I cleaned the terminals and gauge is working fine now, just have to replace the cracked lens with the new one I have, another challenge!
