SB vs BB differential

Are there any differences between the SB and BB differential, other than the stub axle caps? Were the stub axles beefier, more robust internals, etc?

No difference other than the stub axles. The stub axles are not really beefier although, obviously, the cap for u-joint attachment makes them somewhat stronger.

Joe is correct, other then stampings there was no difference. However there is a difference during the run of the 63-79 iron diff's some are much stronger/weaker then others. For example 68's are weaker then 69's because there was a posi casting change in '69. Then in 71 the spiders became stronger but the clutches weaker.
