1964 Inner Front Spash shield - correct bolts?

There is a triangular shaped inner splash shield on each side of the frame just in front of the fire wall. These splash shields are briefly described on page 128 of the JG and shown on page D16 (sheet A6.00 of the AIM).

The JG describes the bolts that hold these inner shields in place as "Cadmium or zinc plated hex head sheet metal bolts with integrated washer and.... A know original head mark is C with 3 intersecting lines."

I am questioning the C marking. I do not have an original bolt to examine or compare but at least two vendors list these bolts and state they have the "Correct RBW" stamp on the head. The AIM lists the bolt part # as being 9417844 but I cannot find or cross reference this pn in any source.

So.... what is the correct bolt, C or RBW or something else?

Ed, Logo is not restricted to one vendor. Use either logos. John D.

John - thanks for the quick reply but..... your response confuses me. I am not concerned about which vendor to use, the issue is that the JG states the bolt should have a "C" on the head, both vendors claim that the correct head marking is "RBW". I can't find any bolts with a C on the head but there are plenty of RBWs. Which is correct for the inner splash shield, C or RBW?

My originals are all RBW, on a Mar 64 Note: took those shields off in 1970, put on a shelf with screws attached and then put back on when getting car ready for NCRS.
Now remember multi vendors were used so any period vendor would be correct, however if JG calls for a "C" then put those on for show and points. DO NOT toss the RBW, save! The JG will at some point catch up with you.

I was thinking along those lines but that creates a different problem for me - I don't know of any pn for a correct finish bolt with a C on the head. Where do I order a set of C stamped bolts?

Ed, You say there are plenty of RBW's available. That's one of my favorite logos. And they are original for your car. Go for it.

you are mis-interpreting the JG. If it says a known original head mark for your bolt is a C, that means bowtie car(s) have been observed with that bolt. That does not mean that the C is the only correct original bolt used in that application. Very likely RBW is just as correct, as are other head marks.

Original large splash shield bolt with RBW and 4 rings. Jan 64 coupe.

From my '67, but I bet they didn't change from '64. Hard to read but it's just like Don's...an RBW
