    Vintage Air installation

Happy Labor Day everyone! I'm thinking of installing a Vintage Air Unit in my 66 convertible. Some of the concerns I have is how hard is it to install, and whats the quality in the final product? Would I have to remove a lot of original parts for the unit to be installed and if needed to replace the orginal parts for judging purposes? Is it worth the time and money?

    Thank you for your input.

    Morris,
A Corvette that is driven with frequency and long distance would be desirable to have air. You may want to look into options that make the conversion easier, (EZ clip hoses, routing thru fire wall vs air duct). No this is not a good idea if you are expecting flight judging without full deductions for added option. The removed, relocated, and replaced pieces will be a big hit too.

But functionally the vintage air blows real cold and the heater portion is better too. Be sure to ask for the 67 ducts as their placement is better functionally and mounting is better. Understand it has a computer and does initialize every time the battery cutout is exercised.

I used Old Air on my 66 roadster BB and the console remained cold after driving long distances. I did however insulate behind the carpet and in the tunnel with insulation that had aluminum foil on both sides. You can buy this insulation from Lowe's much more economical that the parts warehouse version.
And yes I said BB. It was great with a hardtop. Don't know about a soft top version.
Highly recommend AC on a C2 especially at our age.
