I have a 75 Am/FM Stereo. The FM side has gone silent but the AM still plays. The FM did work but now nothing. Are there any problem areas I can check before removing radio. Can the amp in the dash be checked?

Re: Radio expert needed
Take the radio out, remove the top chassis panel so you can see the AM-FM slider switch area. There are a number of tiny copper contacts on that switch and with time it is not uncommon for areas to oxidize and break connection. The fact that your AM works clarifies that most all components of the radio are functioning. Get some contact cleaner spray - deoxit or similar - and carefully spray the switch area - work the switch 20-30 times, spray again, let it dry, then try it. If it remains dead on FM then further diagnostics are needed and you will need to have it looked at. Good luck.- Top
