    John,
Try to find #22189724. This is the number for a 3/4 ton suburban. #22189722 is for a half-ton.

      I thought that a Yukon 2500 is a 3/4 ton.

        Joe,
        It is. A Yukon 1500 is a 1/2 ton. #22189722 fits a Yukon 1500 (1/2 ton) and #22189724 fits a Yukon 2500 (3/4 ton)

There must be some sort of error in some of GM's catalogs then because I find that 22189722 is applicable to the Yukon 2500. However, this error may be why the 22189722 doesn't work for John. The 22189724 is GM-discontinued and I can't find a source for it.

            Joe,
Yes, GM's catalogs sometimes have mistaken applications, which are supposed to be corrected as they are brought to GM's attention. You may have referenced a catalog that hadn't been corrected yet. It happens. The #22189724 was discontinued in Feb 2016 and is going to be very difficult to find.

HI John, Thanks for your imput. Problem is the part is incorrect for my 2004 GMC Yukon XL 2500 with quadrasteer.
But I am OK now as the broken rod is fixed and I will be collecting a few rods. (they are not called rods) Much appreciated. JD

Larry, Yes it is. Has heavy duty springs and rides horrible. John

                    John,
The factory LT tires versus P-metrics don't help, either.

Larry, Sorry I didn't see your post before. Very good information. I will try and order the '724 rod. Thanks a lot, JD.
So far I have investede $33.00 on a rod. Not sending old Joe a bill though as he tried very hard. hahaha

One more thing that might put a wrench into all of these numbers. I wonder if a Quadrasteer rod is a different than say a 3/4 ton? J

                        John,
The rod is the same with or without Quadrasteer. As long as your Suburban has the Z55 suspension, which you can verify by looking at the SPID label or by having your dealer run the VIN as Joe suggested, then #22189724 is the right thing. While you have your dealer on the phone with your VIN he can confirm the part number.

The 22189724 rod is GM-discontinued. I don't know of any source for it and I think you'll have a very hard time finding one.

The 22189722 is the rod that GM specifies in several GM catalogs I checked, some of these are very current. However, apparently it's incorrect. Very unusual in my experience but unusual things do happen. I thought about the possible Quadrasteer involvement from the very outset of my search but I could find no information that vehicles with Quadrasteer required a different rod.

While the 22189722 is apparently not correct for your application, I expect it's as close to the correct rod as you're going to get. And, you apparently were able to use part of it to make up a serviceable rod which, unless you could find a good used example, is about the only way I see that you're going to obtain what you need. So, it's not a complete loss.

Joe, I found the 22189724 and its being shipped to me. The 722 is not even close. Too short and wouldn't fit the way it's configured as the rubber ends are both facing same direction.
