Over the last 22 months or so, a chapter member has had his Dad's beloved '61 red/red fuelie restored. It sat for many years in the yard, and to watch his face and pride when he took it home in like new condition, after how it started, is what it is all about in our hobby. Here are the before and after pictures:

Re: Got to witness the rebirth of a '61 red/red fuelie
The father was the person who purchased this car in Santa Fe New Mexico in 1963. It was purchased used because the father did not like the new body style in1963. The father passed away some 20+ years ago and the son finally decided he wanted his father's car fixed and running again. It took a few referrals before the man fund me. I agreed to restore the car as long as it was kept as original as humanly possible. The son who owns the car now has 2 sons and the eldest has laid claim to the car after his father passes the car down. The younger son has a son and the plan is for the car to eventually pass to him who would be the great grandson on the man who purchased the car in 1963. I fully expect this car to be in the same family for 100 years or more. It will be loved and care for and I truly believe it will never be allowed to reach the state it was in when it came to me. It's a wonderful story which I am sure will find it's way into a magazine sometime soon.
Here are a few pictures of the car when it lived in Los Alamos New Mexico. The son who has the car now is shown at a teenager and his father is a couple pictures as well.

This thread speaks to the core of what our organization should be about. I really hope the owner or restorer takes Vinny's advice and makes a contribution in the way of a Restorer article. Chip.- Top
