    C1 cowl vent seal

I think that I know the answer to this by looking at how the cowl vent fits with the seal... however, I'll ask the question even though it might be obvious - is the cowl vent supposed to rest on the seal or is the seal supposed to fit within the flange of the cowl vent cover? Just want to make sure before I glue it down.

The seal is glued to the body.

Thanks for responding Jim. I know that it's supposed to be glued to the body but perhaps I wasn't clear. In the AIM it appears that the lip of the vent rests on the seal rather than the seal fitting within the lip, right?

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were asking. When the vent is open, you should see an indentation in the seal where the edge of the vent crushed the seal making it watertight. I hope this pic. will show what I'm talking about.

Perfect! That's just what I was thinking but wanted to confirm my thoughts. Thanks again for the nice pic and prompt reply.

When the car is in the garage I crack open the cowl vent.
That way the seal does not get permanently crushed and loose its sealing ability.
