How to VIN search for C2's (ie. <17 characters)

Anybody know how to plug in a C2 /C3 range VIN (which is only 12 characters) into one of those search engines -- there's gotta be at least a hundred on-line sites, some free .

I'd like to locate about 5 Corvettes I used to own (mostly Canada: Ontario, Alberta, Saskabush, Quebec, when sold), which could possibly be stateside or scrapped, by now.

My aim is to share stories, photos and documentation, and in the case of my first car ever ('65 convertible), I'd even consider buying it back (if in half decent condition).

Hi Wayne. Any luck with your research chasing your VINs? Life long effort for me and my '66. I got lucky back in '88 when I bought her. I immediately did an Oklahoma Title search. Was able to contact 3 prior owners. One of them had 2 large boxes full of air conditioning parts original to the car.

I've got lots of ideas and methods of research I could share. I've reached a dead end at 1976. Dealer Delivery showed Queen City Chevrolet in Cincinnati but I knew that already. No original owner info. Well, I'll never give up the search. Good luck Wayne and let us all know if you get lucky.

        Wayne,

I have a 65 Canada car, VIN194675S105921 I've been searching for previous ownership. Could you have owned this one?

        Thanks,

Joe -- no, 5921 was never mine. Did you get your info package ($40) from GM Heritage (George Zapora) ?

I have the GM Canada microfiche page that shows your car (among about 25 others, one line each). What is dealer 5528 ? I know 5526 is Gorries Chev, downtown Toronto. I see your car was originally Goldwood yellow on STD.

            Wayne,

I did the GM Heritage. They listed the dealer as Central Chevrolet Ltd, Toronto, ON. I couldn't find anything online about them.

I also got the report from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. That report, if I'm reading it correctly, supplied "Registrant Identification No., Vehicle Registration Date, Plate, Plate Attached and Plate Removed". There were two addresses, one from 1984 and one from 1985,I mailed request for information. The Bowmanville,ON was returned but the Talbotville, ON was not. The last registration date in Canada was 5-30-97.

I haven't found any info online on how to read the Ministry of Transportation report.
