Color question on 65 rodster
Looking at a 65 car and the trim tag is missing, is there a way to tell original color? On some doc?

A car with no trim tag will not fair well in NCRS judging. If all you want is a driver it might not matter to you but the value of the car when sold will be low.Comment

Try and get a light and look up under the dash out by the doors . Or if you can drill the side rivits out on the dash by the doors, if the dash has never been removed . The original color would be under it. Agree , if it was vin tag , no stay away from it . But trim tag , buy the car..

Noland Adams did some significant Surveys for his 63-7 book. You might think about attending church three times this Sunday and on Monday, contact Noland and provide the VIN and pray further.Comment

Unless the car has been painted to a high standard, the original color may still be under the door thresholds, behind the interior door panel or under the carpet. Removing the seat and looking under the carpet cuts for the seat tracks may reveal the original color.Comment

Check that the vin plate is original if you are still considering the car. My opinion for what it's worth is to look for a different car.

Also look behind rear license plate surround. Often this was taped over on quick paint job.Comment
