I'm trying to track down a 65 Impala 396/425 motor that was sold to a fellow Corvette guy in Indiana last year. Motor was on ebay last year and ended up selling after the auction so the seller doesn't have the buyers info anymore. I was wondering if anyone here purchased the engine. The suffix is T0617IE and the partial VIN is J311087, with a 3855962 casting number and an F-9-5 date code. Engine had the original heads, intake and a service replacement carb. I'm hoping the buyer happens to be an NCRS member and frequents the forums and the block hasn't been decked!

I'm also hoping this doesn't violate forum rules by posting this!

Ed, I try to track L78's and do not have in my data base. Good luck with search. Maybe seller on Great will help. There is a forum for full size cars that you might place request in. Also Chevelle forum.

On a followup, Warren Leunig has a database of several thousand full size cars and he sent me an email last night asking if I could post his request on the NCRS site and any other C2 Corvette sites I could think of. (Warren is also a fellow member of the Camaro Research Group so we converse frequently)

Here's the interesting part. The car's been found! It would be great if we could reunite the engine and the car, but he's concerned that the person that purchased the engine will deck it and install it in a 65 Corvette. If that happens, the history will be gone forever.

So if ANYONE knows anything about this engine, PLEASE contact me and I'll pass the info on to Warren.

My Dad bought a brand new 1965 Impala 396/425 2dr (he paid a little over $3600 for it still have the paper work somewhere) and his buddy Harry bought a brand new 65 Z16 Chevelle. There was a lot of hot cars in the Pittsburgh PA area besides Yenko.
