Color change deduction

I was wondering what the deduction is for a color change? The reason that I ask is because there is a black/tan 67 small block that was originally white that received a Top Flight this year. It also has a motor that was obviously restamped. Here is a link to the ad.

Steve - don't have judging sheets in front of me here @ work, but would be a FULL deduction for paint color. Would also need to look for any ECL codes to see if the color change effected/affected for instance the interior color/leather, etc. Top Flight was Chapter level, and hope they were diligent in how the car was judged.

as Rick says, full deduct for color if not matching Trim tag code. 85 points for mid-years. Car can still easily make TF if most other major aspects are TFP.

Also a standard deduction for the added leather seat covers (material).

The Top Flight doesn't say, of course, how many miles were driven and therefore added to the score. That, too, could have affected its total score, even if it lost paint, seat material, stamp pad surface and stamping.

Anyone know if the body build number is in correct sequence with the serial number?

Thank you for the replies, I did not realize that the deduct is the same as someone who has overly shiny paint but yet is the correct color, interesting. So 85 points, plus at least 38 points for the pad plus the deduct for the leather seats. I guess the rest of the car was really nice.

You can lose a total of 270 points and receive a top flight. 280 points if you have a fire extinguisher, NCRS decal and battery shut off plus the points you get for driving to the event. A lot of cars get either a partial or full deduction for over restored paint. The engine stamp is worth 350 for the casting number if not correct if it is correct then, 175 for the casting date if correct then, 25 for the assembly stamping, 25 for the vin derivative and 38 for the stamp pad surface.

There it is again "numbers matching 350hp/327 L79". Car was reportedly built on June 19, 1967 but the engine was cast a month later on July 21, 1967. Color change, changed interior and NOM, non A/C car asking $75,999...I sincerely wish them all the luck in the world with that price.

Built a month later, per the code currently on the block, not cast a month later. Casting date is not shown.

However, your comments on the price are quite correct.

It sure would be interesting to see the judging sheets on this one...

Agree Patrick. But, if someone was going to fake a block why would they put numbers on there that wouldn't make sense for the build date of the car? Again, just another can of worms for someone to sort through...buyer beware, especially at the asking price.

Definitely something not right here. The trim tag indicates a K19 body build (June 19,1967) and an AO Smith body production number of A-2206. Engine Pad has a July 24 assembly date (V0724HT)

My 67 is an AO Smith body with a K19 body build and production number of A-4837. photos below are my trim tag and engine pad:





Note that for my K19 AOS body I have a 0626 engine and came off the production line on 06-29,30,1967.
Did the really build 2600 AO Smith bodies on K19.

I can't believe that a June 19 body build received a July 24 engine.
Especially when the last C2 (22940) reportedly came off the line on July 11, 1967.

The engine is probably a 68 engine re-stamped to look like a 67. I'm not a pad expert, but look at the engine pad surface on the subject vehicle compared to mine above.

They built a lot more convertibles than coupes.
Your TT shows that it was the 4837th convertible body built.
The Ebay ad shows a TT whose body was the 2206th coupe built.
