I just acquired a set of 64 red/scarlet belts for one seat which consists of the belts and the male buckle piece. The other belt is folded and sewn as it should be. Both have labels which say Corvette 64. But the floor/anchor ends are not finished and there is no evidence they have ever been finished or sewn. The material is correct and new. They are about a foot too long for a 64 Corvette (for which scarlet is the correct color) and the labels are positioned such that they would be in the bend around the floor anchor if not moved.
I'm wondering why GM would provide them this way. Could it be that the same belt was a service replacement for other models which would require cutting to length? It is possible that these were made up from old or repro correct material and just never finished, therefor not GM NOS.
This is just an interest question. I'm glad to have them in any case.
