1963 Shifter Boot

Are the 3-speed and 4-speed shifter boots (rubber boot inside the console) the same in 1963? Also is there any difference between shifter boots for early cars versus later built cars?

No, the 3 and 4 speed boots were different. The 3 speed boot was GM #3823347 and the 4 speed boot was GM #3822947. It is possible that early cars used different boots. If so, I have no information on that.

Yes, the Powerglide boot and the 3 speed boot were the same.

I think the difference is in the shape of the shifter itself. The automatic and 3 speed shifters are just round chrome rods the 4 speed shifter has a notch for the lock out on the reverse so the rubber boot has a little cut out or triangular shape to it.
