Hi Stephen. Just caught your post. Don't know how much value this will be to you, but I bought my '66 AIM back in '88 when I bought the '66. I too was disappointed with the poor print/smudges. Especially over the part#s and torque values. I lived with it till I bought my '65 in '93.
I then bought a Mid America '65 AIM and was very pleased with the quality. The '65 and '66 AIMs are almost identical in many ways throughout the books. If I'm not happy with one I simply cross reference to the other book. This has served me well through the years.
