C2 body manufacture process, underbody and upper body

I am curious about how the C2 underbody was built, and then how the upper body and other pieces were attached to it. I have Mueller's book on Corvette factories, which has a couple of pictures and a brief description, just wondering if anyone knows of a source with more detailed info and pictures. Thanks.

Have you looked at some of the 1963 Pilot Line photos?

118 photos show how the 1963 Corvette was assembled on the pilot line at the St. Louis plant.

John Hinckley (JohnZ) put together an excellent presentation with photos on the C2 manufacturing process and presented it at the NCRS Nationals a few years back. I believe it is available on the NCRS Michigan Chapter website or perhaps in this website archives.

If all else fails, send me a PM and I will send you the file. I believe there were a few hundred photos as well as commentary.

EDIT: Just checked for you, and all four parts of the presentation are still available at NCRS Michigan Chapter website under "DOWNLOADS" Section on the header bar. About 40 MB total size. Larry

Thanks guys, this all will do me. Just trying to visualize what all was happening in the body shop as everything was coming together and in what order, this helps a ton. Thanks again.

          Mike,

The Licastro book is very interesting with a plant "map" (diagram) depicting plant layout at StLouis. Pretty good narrative on the process. Ties into the excellent John Hinckley presentation mentioned in #3 above.
