67 trim tag

I thought I knew something until I ran into this. I have a 67 roadster and looking at the trim tag next to the Vin there seems to be a difference in what I see from others. I've had the car for over 30 years and was bought from the original owner who was not into vettes just had it to play with it, so I don't think he did anything mysterious. I see letters following the trim or paint on other tag examples but mine has only STD. and 984. The others had codes of some kind. This car was all normal black vinyl interior but did come with a hardtop with black vinyl, and soft top, no electric windows or AC. The only difference in mine is the body is A-2866 which is AO Smith and most are St Louis. being it does have a hard top and even vinyl but there is nothing other than having it on any codes. Am I wrong or is something missing?

On another point I have a 65 3 speed transmission (date code E 20 4) and I have that very rare 3 speed shifter and console decal, I'm sure someone needs that because they have to be extremely rare.

1967 AOS Trim Tags did not have Exception Control Letters (ECLs) after the Trim or Paint color codes. You can relax.

No pics were posted, so I cannot comment on the TT configuration and date codes, etc.

Thanks, I've not been on this forum until now and still have not figured out how to use it. It took me an hour to figure out for some reason I had signed out and could not find even your information.
I'm cleaning the transmission as soon as I do I'll post pictures. I have to think the transmission would not be too rare, but there is no VIN on it. But the 3 speed shifter should be extremely hard to find, there were only a couple hundred in 65.

Rare and desirable are two different things. Would you like to buy the one i have had unsold for about 10 years? I'm skeptical about that being the original in your car, but do also know that stranger things have happened.

the 67 is original. The complete engine, every part has been rebuilt (resleeved) has what it came with. Have all other other parts but most have age problems, radiator, heater and expansion tank leak, alternator was rebuilt in Ormond Beach (FL) it looks good but does not work, and the spare redline is not even DOT but have them stored away for the "rainy day" Has a crate engine currently. As for your skeptical, I'm guessing you are referencing the transmission, that came out of a 65 roadster in 1989 and that car was absolutely base, 250 motor, heads, exhaust intake, weber carb, everything on that car was absolutely matching, but the new owner wanted 4 speed and pulled out the 3 speed, with shifter the old 3 speed decal plate on the console. But I've been around long enough that 150% of corvette owners are skeptical, People can believe what they want, why waste the time?

I think you will find that 65 with 3 speed is without VIN stamping on the tranny. Maybe because it's cast iron or less space to put it.....

I am skeptical that a car is "absolutely matching" when it has a weber carb as you state.

My mistake I said weber, but meant carter, I was thinking about my motorcycle, but I sold that car 15 years ago. The only vette I had (6) without the original engine was my 1st. A '68 I bought new, and the engine blew up in only 2 months. Chevy replaced it but the jerks charged me for an oil and filter change. I complained about that after spending over $4,500 and it had a couple thousand miles. It was expensive oil. That car was a dog, and got rid of it in a year.
