    C2(64) Ballast Resistor Wiring Terminals

On my car the bottom terminal is on a wire which comes thru the firewall along with the windshield wiper motor and backup light wires and it has a flag terminal. I think it is original and correct. My top terminal is on a wire originating in the engine harness and is a straight crimp on style so I know it has been repaired/replaced.

I think the terminal in the pic is correct for the top termina and I have this on about a foot of black wire with a pink stripe. Can anyone confirm this is the correct terminal. If it is I'll figure out how to repair my wiring harness. Thanks

The terminal shown in the picture is incorrect. The one coming from the dash harness is what you call a "flag" terminal just like the lower terminal.

Joe, I'm sorry, I don't understand your response and I'm afraid it will keep others from responding.

On my car the one coming from the dash harness is the one coming thru the firewall with the windshield wiper leads and it is a flag and it goes to the bottom of the BR.

The one coming from the engine harness is the top terminal and is currently a crimp on replacement.

Just tell me what they should be. You say the one in the pic is not right. Is it incorrect for the top, the bottom or both.

After Joe's response I thought a picture might be better so I went to the internet...a dangerous thing if you want facts, but I found this pic which says it is a C2/67. The wire colors are different than my 64 but I'm wondering if the top and bottom terminals are not the correct configuration.

My Jan 64 L84 has straight lug on top, and flag type on bottom.
The straight lug you see on bottom is wire added to run electric choke and sits on top of other lug.

Well pardon me but I took my findings from my internet pictures that I took in my shop. You will find the pictures interesting I am sure. I always fill my wiring carefully. It only took a second to find the answer under "JUNK". You will find your answer in the third picture. Glad to be of service.

Don - perfect, thank you. If you have time tell me how/why you have a choke on an FI car.

Joe - I'm afraid you let the cat out of the bag. In all that stuff I bet you have what I need. Just above the wiper motor in the engine compartment harness there is a plastic connection of a purple wire. On most cars is is just connected together. On an automatic car it is separated and the two wires to the neutral safety switch are connected. On a FI with the 7380 unit (most 64s and all 65s) car there is a jumper between the male and female with a branch for a wire to the microswitch on the bell crank. So the make connector slips into the female and the female has a squareish tab with a hole which goes over a dog on the male and keeps it together. I need that female plastic connector. Can you help? I can buy it from ynzyesterdaysparts.com for $8 but I have to buy 4 to meet the minimum order. There product code #1490. See the pic.

                Larry,

I'll check and see. Don't think the one in the picture is exactly correct. will look and see if I have an original. Do have several for cars without FI or auto.
