    1962 Hood Release Cable

The hood release cable(s) terminate at a stop just beyond the arm of the hood release catch. The stop is a cylinder with a hole in it for the cable and a screw to catch the cable.

Should the cable be bent after it goes through the stop?

Absolutely!! The bend will help retain the wire in the barrel nut should the set screw come loose and release the cable. If the cable comes loose from the barrel nut you won't be able to open the hood without attacking it from underneath the car...been there, done that.

This is why I asked. It seems like a good idea to me. But it is not called out in the AIM. And I can't recall if I saw it on other cars. I was wondering what other owners had.

Chris, my bow tie 62s had them bent from the factory.
