Correct date code for 1961 windshield glass

My car is 106531 so born about March 20, 1961. I'm getting a new correct windshield and the vendor asked me to verify the date coding. Since I doubt they made windshields too far ahead because of their size my estimate is that XL for February 1961 would be the correct code. Thus the bottom line would be: AS 1 XL centered below the SAFETY LOF PLATE line.

The February date would be good. However, windshields, many times preceed the care's build date by many months. I had one that was dated a little over one year before the build date.

Thanks. Now just got to make sure the vendor does it correctly. Just got a verbal quote a few minutes ago. Clear glass date coded and installed is $850. Glass if from Pilkington which is the company that bought LOF.

You might want to have them send you a picture of what the etching will look like? Better safe than sorry.

Good idea. Also going to find out exactly where they are going to position it since I don't know any one who has an original windshield in their 61/62.

Why not look in the JG or email the Team Leader for a picture.

There's a picture in the JG but it's so cropped down that you can't so the location. I'll try to find one locally (there are more than 20 C1s here).
