All: I found Tim's email address from the NCRS Texas Chapter Tailpipe and flipped him an email. Thanks again. Hope to see some of you in October. Best, EWC

      Ned,
Might I suggest you drive your beautiful car to Frisco...you get points for the miles you drive...and every point helps!! See you there.

Re: Fledgling Flight - Where do I Start?

Ned - See your email! Looking forward to meeting up on Friday! Let's plan on plenty of time to not only look over your '66 but to cover the judging process and what to expect in Frisco.

I drive my car (sorry.....Carla's car!) a lot but also trailer it. It usually depends on how much I need to take on the trip. I generally trailer it to Frisco only because I have a Yukon full of stuff for the meet to take along! Most of the time, those of us from the Houston area caravan up there.

All: Tim Ehlers is a top shelf guy and a real NCRS Ambassador. Tim stopped by our place today and spent over 3 hours going over the NCRS Judging Process and my C2. I learned a lot; had fun: and made a new friend. Thanks Tim, you're a classy guy. I owe you a lunch or a good steak dinner up in Frisco. Best, Ned

              Ned,
Take Tim to the Capital Grill...best steaks in Texas...by far!!! There is one on Legacy Drive about two miles from the Frisco Regional locale.

Re: Fledgling Flight - Where do I Start?

Gents: Well as many of you already know, the Lone Star Regional NCRS Show was amazing. The cars were plentiful and beautiful; it was organized to a tee (congrats to the King Team); and the Corvette fellowship was first class all the way around (a very big thanks to Rich, John, Tim, Gary, Bill, Kevin, etc.). I have'nt felt like such a dopey rookie in a long time - you were all very helpful. Next time will be a bit smoother I suspect. I received a Third Flight ribbon and my Judging Sheets in the mail last week. I've certainly got my work cut out for me and plan to strive for Second Flight (short of a repaint; I'm not sure how I'll ever get around my glossy red paint). Like many of you already have in the past, I plan to put together an Excel Spreadsheet and knock-off a number of items this winter. This leads to the following two questions: (1) Does Al Knoch Interiors make a superior C2 top? If so, it'll be a bit of a hassle haul my Vette down to the Texas Gulf Coast to have him install it. Before I did so, I wanted to ask you folks if you thought it was worth it; and (2) Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a reasonable used reproduction KO spare wheeel for a 1966 Corvette? Hope that all goes well as we roll into the Holiday Season. Best, Ned

Re: Fledgling Flight - Where do I Start?

Ned, this thread from not long ago will help on the top.

I would look for someone around Houston to install it if you can get any recommendations from the locals there you have met. It is a long way to AK's place outside El Paso. On the KO wheel, I would advertise in the "Wanted to Buy" section of this board or Corvette Forum, there should be lots out there. Good luck.

                            Ned,

The AK tops are close but not perfect. But probably the closest to original you can get. All AK midyear tops get deducts for the atypical grain, and for the front beading. Most installers don't know how the bead sits. It should be referenced in the JG.

As far as the KO Western Repro wheel, John B may have one lying around from a lot of parts he bought some time ago. I'll check with him. Too bad as I was there just yesterday.

Ed, did you take your car to be judged in Frisco?
