71 LS5 valve cover, booster indent

    Hi guys,
I know this has probably been covered many times but I can't seem to find the answer that I need. Late production 71 454 valve covers. I have 2 sets, both are of coarse painted, have drippers and am trying to find out what set is correct? The set with the large triangle sloped indentation for the booster, or the version that has the small so called "crushed" indentation? My car has manual brakes, so no booster but I also understand that they used the same covers regardless of PB or no PB. I've found opinions that state both types are correct? I know that's not right. In my mind I believe that the large triangle covers were for earlier cars, and the small indent style is correct for a later production 71? Any judges out there, tell me if I'm out to lunch or if maybe I've got it straight? Thanks in advance for your input....Steve

      Steve------

The "large triangular indentation" was used for C2 and, possibly, early 1968. It was not used for 1971.

Power brakes or manual brakes made no difference as to valve covers. Tonawanda had no idea whether the engine was going into a manual brake or power brake car and the engines were certainly not coded for manual or power brake applications.
