Source for Discontinued GM Part, 2004 Vette

Hello All, the gas cap door locking mechanism (GM part #10275623) for my 2004 vette is broken and needs to be replaced. Last week the local GM dealer informed me that the part has been discontinued. Where would be a source to locate this part? thanks

    John,

Are you sure the part number is correct?
Searching for it doesn't show that number at all, much less that it's discontinued.

John, also sometimes the dealer can do a search for the part number and sometimes dealers in other states may still have it inventory.

              Edward------

This is the type of part dealers are very unlikely to have stocked. If any dealer has one, it's likely one ordered for a customer that didn't ultimately pick it up. But, he might get lucky. However, eBay is probably the best bet right now, especially if a NEW example can be found.

Funny what was old is new again. In the 80's we searched junk yards for parts for our C-1'S & C-2'S. Now people are doing the same for Corvettes built in 2000. At least in the day GM still sold most service parts for the 50'S & 60'S Corvettes.

I found the part on website named: onlinegmparts.com, typed in the GM part # and the item popped up. Also, price is half what the local GM dealer quoted me last year before the part was discontinued

C4 parts, etc. Readily available at Corvette Carlisle. C2 stuff getting very rare there but no shortage of C4-C5 parts there. In case you don't know it's Thursday the 25th until that Sunday. Arrive Thurs and Fri at the latest as guys like McCagh are there with their Hoover sweepers.
Best show on earth. See me in the L90's. Free water and hot air. Plus I have a lot of cool air in my vendor trailer.

But can the website you mention actually obtain and deliver the parts? There are many sources that THINK they can obtain GM parts. At least, until they place the order with GM and find out it's no longer available. Then, you get an e-mail saying they're sorry but........
