Trying to help a friend with a 1972 with A/C. It has no high speed blower moter fan. Fan works on other speeds. Checked the resistor on the evaporator core box which is fine, did replace the relay on the evaporator core box. Notice while replacing the relay that wires had gotten hot and melted the plastic connector, the wires are OK. Did replace the plastic connector. Point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Re: 1972 No High Speed Fan
Gary,
Over the years I have had this issue several times with my '69 w/Air car. It has always been the same- melted plastic connector and wires at the high speed fan relay. A new relay and wire repair always fixed it. I would re-check the repairs you made to the wires and be sure that there is no damage further up the wire. This assumes that the other speeds are working.

Re: 1972 No High Speed Fan
Gary, did you try wiggling the electrical connector on the relay with the blower turned on high speed sometimes, as Jeff eluded to the brass wiring connector takes a lot of current so it gets hot and spreads open.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 1972 No High Speed Fan
Gary, have you taken a test light to check for power at the orange wire (key-on)? another test is take the test light and put it on the power side ( battery) and touch the black ground to make sure you have a solid ground connection at case. the Blue wire is coming from switch when high speed is selected. purple should be the blower so if relay is working when you select high speed this wire will have power.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
