I have two trim plates, one that was in my 66 couple when I bought the car and one I purchased that came out of a 67. I know the one from the 66 was not original as it did not have the bracket to clip the seat belt buckle on.
In the first picture, the one on the top is from a 1967. The bottom one was in my 66, but it did not have the seat belt buckle bracket when I got the car, I added that.
Differences are:
In picture two, the 67 trim plate has a lip extension around the shifter and in picture three the other plate does not have this lip. I does not appear that there every was this lip, i.e. doesn't appear to have been broken off.
In picture five, the trim plate that came in my 66 has a spring steel clip that is held in place by a rivet that was part of the casting. This clip is in place to help retain the radio side panel. In picture 4, the trim plate from the 67 had the cast rivet but was never used.
Also, the 67 trim plate had a cast number 3860149 on the bottom, and the trim plate that came with my 66 has on numbers that I can find.
65 and 66 both had the same part number for the trim plate assembly 3860147, and both would have been drilled for the seat belt retainer.
67 has part number 3897484 and would not be drilled for the seat belt retainer.
64 has part number 3848168 and would not be drilled for the seat belt retainer.
Does anyone know what the trim plate from my 1966 is? Could it be from a 64?
Would a 64 owner please check to see of your console trim plate has the lip casting that extended down slight around the shifter area?
Thanks,
