    2016 ncrs rt

The Road Tour was a great success thanks to the RT Leaders that plan their routes to visit interesting sites along the way. The members had a great time and we look forward to working with them for 2017 to San Antonio, TX.

I now live in BANDERA, TEXAS in the Hill Country 50 miles from the Convention Center. There are some great roads in the HILL COUNTRY. Let me know if I can help for the drive the day prior and then last day arrival route.

I was thinking the Twisted Sisters would be the perfect road for all road tours to take.

Yes, I am just starting to help. I am happy to help. I live in BANDERA, Texas only 50 miles from the Convention. There are great roads here in the Hill Country. The TEXAS guys have had two chapter events with great success. I am marking RAY and Pat Kimminau a copy of this mail. They live in North Richland Hills near Ft. Worth and have gone on all the TEXAS CHAPTER TOURS, so have experienced the Hill Country often. We are 40 year friends since California. I bought one of my 57 Corvettes from Ray in 1976. He still owns his 65 blue 396 he bought new.

Maybe my wife DEE who still owns her original owner 77 Corvette will join the tour. I am trying to get her to have the car judged. It is a 81000 mile never restored survivor/ Bowtie car never judged. This car can tell all the stories

YES. The PORSCHE CLUB, and FERRARI CLUB also use it. Time for Corvettes to enjoy. Kerrville overnight, then take the tour to MEDINA on state 16. Comments from the motorcycle riders include,

''This ride is one of the top ten rides in the nation. It has it all. Scenery and challenge. The scenery is certainly beautiful especially in the spring. Not too hot and trees and cactus in bloom. The people in the area are glad to have you there and are friendly. The road surface itself is in fair to good conditon. The curves are many and sometimes surprising. We saw no livestock on the road at all but the possibility is there. LATE EVENINGS AND EARLY MORNING WILL FIND DEER AND OTHER LIVESTOCK GRAZING, SO BE PREPARED. Unexpected trips off the road will surely result in seriuos injury and the cushion is large sharp rock. If you leave the road you will get hurt. The road lulls you to over confidence then jumps up to bite. This ride is not for beginners at all as the speeds can get too great leading into a sharp curve. The roadside amenities are limited so be sure to fuel up when possible. The state of Texas needs to put more marked pull outs on these roads for rest and photos. There are good food and lodging and fuel in Leakey. This road should not be missed by serious Corvette driver.''

I have riden HWY #1, CALIFORNIA TOP TO BOTTOM, and COLORADO 550 ''MILLION $ HWY'' DURANGO -SILVERTON- ORRAY and many others. There are always a better hwy, but if you think TEXAS is nothing but hot desert and flat, this road will impress you where the cattle and humans live. I am sure the TEXAS CHAPTER will creat an excellent drive. Their ROAD TOUR guys have done this event more than once.
