My '72 LS-5 has been missing it's shroud extension for the #3956119 shroud in the car. I have searched for quite a while for one to help with cooling, especially with the a/c on. it requires the GM #3956089 extension and seems to be quite elusive. I've gotten to the point where I'm considering a reproduction extension. The Doc and others have them listed but have read comments about poor fit. Has anyone had experience with one of these? And do they have the correct part number molded into them. Thanks!

My vague recollection is that the original 3956089 extensions didn't fit very well, either. As I recall, many cars may have left the factory without one installed. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: LS-5 shroud extension #3956089
My brother in law has a '69 with the extension in question and his fits perfectly, is that odd? Also, in judging the words "Typical factory production" keep coming up. Since you mention that many cars left the factory left without one, is the extension judged or penalized if missing? Would a missing extension be considered TFP? Thanks!- Top
