I called John Pirkle Jr and found a message that he is reorganizing his business and not accepting orders....Could you recommend others who can top flight restore an original horn relay and voltage regulator both cosmetically and functionally, your recommendations are much appreciated.

Re: Voltage Regulator Restoration - 1962
I am surprised that there is no one recommending rebuild/ restore businesses on these regulators ? I have received a note from Corvette Central that they do it in house. Any experience with them?Dino Lanno- Top

Re: Voltage Regulator Restoration - 1962
I know NOTHING about these guys, just stumbled across them...worth a phone call:
Most late model alternators have solid state electronic regulators that are integrated into the unit. Typically, these alternator/regulator systems are replaced as a unit. It is usually not cost effective Read More
They claim they will restore your numbers matching, generator (e.g. vibrating points), voltage regulator...- Top

Re: Voltage Regulator Restoration - 1962
Ken Bruno recommended Bill Caldwell, but Bill takes your original case and installs new solid state internal circuitry. I have nice original functioning parts and would like to just get them restored. I'll keep this option in mind if no other reliable sources come up. Thanks for the recommendation.- Top

Re: Voltage Regulator Restoration - 1962
I seriously doubt this person does generator powered V/R solid state conversions -- the only person that did them was Bob Jeffers of Wilton Electronics.
I have the first one he converted for a Corvette in my '61 (in picture below)...I worked with him for several weeks to develop the prototype and then the smarter folks started snapping them up (like Tom Parsons on here). Bob was 92 at the time and passed away a couple of years back and his kids could care less about his work nor passing it on to someone to carry on (I tried -- twice)...
I sold my last spare conversion a month ago to a CF friend... The one in the car has worked flawlessly for 1/2 decade now...- Top
