1966 Red Corvette Coupe, Tag Says 1 Owner

Driving between Memphis and Little Rock this AM I passed a Red 1966 Coupe with Side Pipes and KO's with a New Mexico license plate that read "1 Owner".
Oh yeah, I took note of the car and followed him to a rest stop in Forrest City, AR.
Out rolled Bill Wilhelm, an old time NCRS member #1600. He had driven from New Mexico to Bowling Green, KY. to be in the 1966 celebration. He was on his way back to New Mexico.
Great to see Bill and his wife. A beautiful 1966 Corvette and Bill was doing what it was intended to be used for!

What great trip! Did he say how the drive was going? 1500 plus miles in a coupe, WOW!

Hey Ralphie,

No Bill and I didn't talk long as his wife had to be at work tomorrow. He was anxious to walk out the kinks, use the bathroom and get back on the road.
Great seeing Bill and his wife again. The dog too!

Being the firsts owner I'm sure he knows how he use to drive it and to where. Good to know they are still out there and enjoying them

I put 2661 miles on it in the last six days, gas cost $419.60 and average fuel mileage was 16.537. This was done with a 3:70 gear and RPM seldom below 3300RPM. Total miles on the car now are 132K. That's a lot of miles with no air conditioning, I think I lost 10 pounds on this trip. Bill

Glad to see Willy is almost to his destination. His car is one of a kind with the equipment Joe mentioned plus that rare antenna delete option. Have fun Willy we are on the way home from the National, in Ohio tonight.
