    NCRS Spec Guide 1972 Totals?

    I've been a NCRS member since 1982. I had a C3 back in the day, and currently have a C4 and a C5.

I just started sniffing around for another C3.

So, I just purchased a "1968-1982 NCRS Corvette Specifications Guide." It indicates copyright 2011. I'm not sure if that is the most recent publication.

However, the reason for this post is found in that NCRS publication on pages 19-23, "Equipment, Prices, & Quantities" for the 1972 model year.

The information on those pages indicates a breakdown for quantity totals for coupes AND convertibles.

This info is rather shocking to me. This breakdown info is not available for any other C3 year, as far as I know.

Can anybody verify what documents supplied this information?

I can not tell you what document supplied that information to John Amgwert, but I am sure that document came from Chevrolet -- based on what John told me when I was 1970-72 National Team Leader. That is back in the Dark Ages.

I know of what ye speak in regard to the Dark Ages. Just a blink away.

      Thanks, Terry, that's good info.

That document/s must have been a great find for John. From all of the Z code RPOs, I assumed that info must have come from a GM source. Makes me wonder what model year of Corvette that records of that type might have started. What a find that would be!

It was probably titled "Produuction Trends", labeled "Confidential" and Distirbution limited to 50 copies.

          Thanks, Loren.

That document is something of which I have never heard. Obviously intended for a limited amount of peering eyes. Loren, do you believe that the Production Trends document was a report that was typically generated for GM division heads in the late 60s and early 70s? Was it replaced or perhaps phased out?

I doubt that it was "typical", but that's a guess, based on the fact that it would have covered, exactly, the first 20 years of Corvette production. I do NOT have a copy, but I do have a copy of the distribution list and those included were first rate level. The names are those that you would recognize, minus some of the giants who had already retired, like Sanders, Rosenberg, etc. John Amgwert was "connected" in so many, many ways.
