Re: Road Tour 2016!
It looks like you guys had a blast.
For those of us with older cars (no A/C or even a BB with A/C), has NCRS considered a cool weather RT? Maybe in the spring or fall? Braving the summer heat while driving for hours with the window down is less fun than it was in my youth.Mark Edmondson

Re: Road Tour 2016!
Mark, Kay and I just completed 2,200 miles in our 1966 Duntov 427..425 Hp coupe. no PS,PB, Radio or AC. We are in or mid-60's. Great time at the Ocean city National.
Next year off to San Antonio then in 2018 to Las Vegas.
Like Zora said these Corvettes are made to be driven.
We look forward to seeing you on a RT.

I'm glad you two had a great time with your '66. I can imagine a summer drive from Ontario, Canada to Rhode Island "windows down" would be an awesome experience.
But it's a bit different down south. Have you driven your Duntov on the open road for hours in 103 degree heat and 50% RH? Just the thought of driving from my home (Dallas) to the 2017 National in San Antonio next summer makes me sweat. And that's only a five hour drive if nothing overheats.
My point is that if the Road Tour and driving older cars are a big part of National and the venue is in the south, NCRS might consider scheduling the event in spring or fall.Mark Edmondson

Re: Road Tour 2016!
I agree with you Mark, few people are like Scott and Kay, my wife would never join me if I wanted to drive my non-A/C '64 very far in the summer. I have no worries about the car, it would be fine, but we would be melted, sweaty, and generally miserable. We all have a different level of comfort, few can take it in an old car given the option of a newer Corvette. There was John and his wife, on the Rocky Mountain Road Tour, who drove his '63 FI coupe from Colorado to California and then out to Warwick with us. But many chapters have fall or spring drive outs, Texas does too.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Road Tour 2016!
The Texas chapter has a GREAT road tour each year in the spring. That is the tour you need to be on. John Lejsal always puts on a great tour. I just got back home after 4000 miles; of course I was in a brand new A/C vette. Got stuck in Little Rock for an hour when a dump truck wrecked on I-30 west of downtown and gridlocked the entire town it seemed. You ought to have seen the 18 wheelers after that mess on I-30 headed west with ME. Sure is nice to be home though at 1 am this morning.- Top

I hope Scott does not get upset that I am sharing his secret to how he was able to accomplish the above stated task.... Photo credit to Phil Schott.
