Re: 1963 Battery Cable Routing
The black plastic clip that LIC sells is the same style that is used to hold wiring against the inside of the engine compartment by the wheel wells as well as other areas It has a round double-ended plug end and a length with two holes. One end of the plugd is supposed to get pressed into amounting hole like the one on the battery shield, and the strip with the holes get wrapped around the cable and then onto the other end of the plug.
These clips work well except the hole in the battery shield is too large and the clip will fall out. The other issue is that the clip is made of plastic and since the battery shield is relatively close to the exhaust manifold, there is a good chance for the softening of the plastic. While it is possible that my battery shield is not original and does not have the correct size hole, I figured I would warn you.
A suggestion that I would make is to remove the battery shield, use the clip, but also place a flat retainer washer on the inside of the battery shield over the plug. That will prevent it from pulling out and will not be visible for judging purposes.
