I have the origional door alignment shims, my question is how to determine which is left hand or right hand on the plastic pieces. I know the thin side goes to the outside but does the big end of the wedge goes up or down? Any guidance would be appreciated.

On my 68 the big end is up although cant be sure if it has ever been removed and installed wrong. Hopefully others will chime in so we can create a consensus. Doug- Top

Re: 68 Conv Door alignment wedges
Take a look at the AIM, UPC1, Sheet K8, items 2, 3 and 4. (This shows the passenger side.) the "plate" that attaches to the door (4523880) has the thin side towards the inside of the car, and the "wedges" that attache to the body (3922363 and 3922364) has the thin side toward the outside of the car with the thicker side up.
Here's a picture of my 69 (same as 68) driver side wedge.

I have to agree, after doing a little reseach something as simple as looking at the backside of the insert is the marking with an L on one and a R on the other. Sometimes we try to make thing to complicated.- Top
