    Did R45XLS Spark Plug Change

I notice from pictures that the R45XLS plug doesn't appear to have a "cap" and instead has an exposed thread terminal. The R45XLS6 has the cap. I have older R45XLS plugs that do have the cap so is this a recent change? I got a set of the R45XLS6 plugs and they appear to be made to have a much wider gap, i.e. when I gap them to ~35 the ground electrode is really bent down - doesn't seem right since the gap is not consistent across the center electrode.

    Thanks,

    Jack

"I got a set of the R45XLS6 plugs and they appear to be made to have a much wider gap."

I believe the "6" means they are designed for a nominal .060" gap, so they are not suitable for your engine.

If you purchased R45XLS plugs without the screw on terminal, they were not properly packaged or the package was tampered.

          Jack,
I completely concur with Duke. That's why I asked the question earlier...those AC Delco R45XLS6 were not designed for your application.

Jack, the heat range is the same but the gap is .60 If this is all that you can get these days from Delco, you can try the 35. gap and see what happen's I don't think you will have a issue.the gap difference from the center electrode will only be a few thousandths.

Sorry for the confusion everyone. I had to rely on pictures on line because no one had them in stock and the pictures show no cap (Advance, O'Reilly, Summit). I finally found a set today and picked them up and sure enough they are the same as they've always been so no issues. Thanks for the help though.
