Thanks for your input, Marco. When I get my hands on one of the black phosphate bolts, I'll post a picture.

        Chuck,

The ad says NEW. First there is no washer for that clamp. Its nearly certain a repo!

Believe this! They may have been more than one supplier. Check with Mc fast as he has the supplier specs for that bolt and every other bolt and screw GM ever used. Part number for that screw is 9417511.

Check with the team leader for 63-64! This thread is going nowhere!

          Going nowhere fast, JR.

That bolt in my last link is most definitely a repro, and there is certainly no flat washer used in the original installation.

I also have the Fastener Bible with all the specs that you refer to. That PN.. 9417511... calls out "black phosphate, 5/16 x 12 Type B Tapping Screw, IHWF".

          IHWF= Indented Hex Washer Face.

It's really no big deal as that bolt can easily be replaced. The clamp can be easily replaced too. I'm just messin' with things while my steering column is out.

            Re: 63 Steering Column TQ

Went to a Fourth of July cookout this afternoon and my buddy gifted me with this bolt. He had several of them. He now has one less. You can see the remnants of a black finish. It has an M headmark with an I slashed through the middle of the M. All 4 of his bolts had this same headmark.

He has 3 63 coupes and a 64 survivor coupe. This came from one of his 63's.

Interesting that he gave it to me attached to the clamp, which he wanted back. The clamp was painted gloss black.

              Chuck,
Earlier in post #11, I said there was no headmark on the bolt from my unrestored car.
The reality is that my headmark is very faint and much less pronounced than your example.
Using your bolt as a guide, I can now see the same "capital M with an I thru the middle"

Tell your friend thank you...........I think your new bolt is the real deal.

If anyone has any leads on this correct head marked bolt it would be greatly appreciated.

Jealous. Bruce I believe your clamp should be towards the motor rather than outside fender.
