    C2 Brake lines

Can you replace the brake line on a 1965 Corvette coupe from the front to the rear without lifting the body off of the frame ?

Not if you run the lines in the original positions.

Don't the original lines run on top of the frame ?

Correct, that's why you can't replace them in the original position without lifting the body.

Unless you really need to replace the line, I would avoid doing so as this has been known to result in a case of body off frame restoration virus which is expensive!

So the only line which you can not replace is the main one from engine to rear end. Have been told of those who have only lifted the body on one side (limited height) and that works. Do some searches and should find more on the subject.

              Alan,

I replaced this brake line on my 66 Roadster. All you have to do is straighten the rear 90 degree where it goes to the brake block and then bend it when you get it through, snap the line to the clips and tighten the line at the fittings. If I can do it anyone can! The use of a lift would be nice. I was changing the MC to a dual system so the lines had to be changed.

I changed mine on my 66 Coupe 34 years ago because it was spliced in the rear area. As Joe says it can be done .

                    Anthony,
I just saw your posting, so I am probably to late in replying.
I replaced the front to rear brake line on my 64 in a little less than 3 hours with the body bolted to the frame. This included replacing the clips on top of the frame. I removed the drivers side rocker panel and rear tire. I fed the brake line into the wheel well going between the inside frame rail and the body. I then worked the line into place reaching under the car and going through the space provided by the removed rocker panel. The only tricky part was aligning the line around the frame kick-up. Bending was very minimal.
This was done in a 1 car garage on jack stands.
