    67 327/300 water pump

I wanted to ask if the bolts on the water pump have a flat or lock washer on the 4 mounting bolts? The new JM does not specify ??

No washers at the bolt-to-pump interface. However, if a stud is used at the left upper position, there are split lockwashers used for the alternator brace but not between the stud and the pump casting.

Hi Joe, I have no stud but just the 4bolts... I will remove the lock washers so will have just a bare bolt to water pump ...

While GM never used washers for the waterpump retaining bolts, they should have at least used flanged head bolts, but they never did. The use of a standard hex head bolt without washer interfacing directly with the pump casting was, in my opinion, a bad idea. But, that's what they did. Flanged head bolts would have probably cost 1/4 cent more each.
