    Actually Michael the buzzer is quite noisy.......quite audible.

I have seen that the later units used the redline that we are most familiar with. I am also convinced that most of the cars did not have the harness and buzzer installed. Yes the redline is not adjustable as there is a circuit board that widens to make contact with a small ribbon that is soldered to the speed cup at the 6500 mark.
      I would be quite shocked if a judge insisted to an owner that it was to be tested, and also even more shocked if any of us old guys could even hear it over the engine noise!

      As I mentioned, I have three buzzer tachs, all colored as shown in the pic I posted earlier, i.e. yellow and orange "warning" stripes. One is definitely original November production. The one from my April car that may not be original to that car and one sample is from a scrapped car. I've seen far too many of this color tach on early cars for them all to be "service" units. I think that there were probably two vendors or multiple production lines. Below is a pic of the original tach from my November, 62 L84 car. It has not been changed or restored. Note the color and aging of this piece.
