    60 spears and crossflags

i am repaint the coves, I see there is putty under the spears anyone know what this is? were to get it?

Also the cross flags were just puttied in, should there be the small metal pin clamps(not nuts) I see on the vette parts sites to hold in the cross flags?

It looks best to remove all the putty when putting the spears back in.. then putty from behing and seal back up with some undercoating... not sure if that was factory but the backer plates and nuts had on what I would call old school tar undercoating...

    thank you,

The spears had a sealer on the shaft where they went into the passenger cabin. Most people now use 3M Strip Caulk (dum-dum). The side emblem (flags) are mounted with a speed nut.

Look in you AIM Section A sheet 3.00 and Section 11-13 Sheet 2.00

thanks I forgot I have a AIM... LOL... yeah dum-dum why could I not think of that... ? Well no speed nuts on the flags but will add them when I put them back on...

basically the car was a Cascade green the previous owner painted it red and silver and did some mode in the interior to get the red carpet, and black dash maybe? I know the interior is modded because the door panels have red carpet on the bottoms...? Unless the car came green with red carpet? Was it possible, as I would say the carpet sure looks original and I am about to remove it to replace its worn by the pedal and pretty dry rotted underneath... when I removed the kick panels they look like they never were out of the car...and well changing he dash to black would have been a pretty detailed task? The package tray is black and that was never out.... thank you
