I just received the price tag for a dolly from Tom Komendera and it's a little rich for me. Anybody in the northern California area that would be willing to sell me a used one? I'm just a regular guy restoring a 70. Thanks, Justin

Re: C3 body dolly
I just built a wooden dolly out of 2x4 per the Noland Adams Body Lift Wookbook. Not expensive and worked for me. Will NOT work if you want a rotisserie type dolly.

Re: C3 body dolly
Hi Justin,
Here are the plans for a pretty simple wooden dolly.
It supports the body at the 8 body mount points and the core-support.
The up-rights' lengths can be increased or decreased to determine the height of the body is above the ground.
The up-rights are bolted into place and can be removed so the area right at each mount location can be addressed as individually.
The larger wheels make the dolly/body easy for one person to move.
A steel dolly is probably better but this works for someone without welding skills, can be easily built in one morning, and for relatively few $$.

Re: C3 body dolly
Hi Bob,
Yes.
This photo is of the body leaving for the painter's shop.
The body was lag bolted to the dolly uprights at the body mounts.

Re: C3 body dolly
Hi Roland,
The upright locating dimensions on my drawing are based on the centerlines of the body mounts on the frame drawing in the 71 AIM.
I'd think you could compare those dimensions to the locating dimensions for the frame drawing in your 64 AIM to determine if there are differences and what they may be.
Regards,
Alan
Note the uprights are located front to back and also side to side.71 Coupe, 350/270, 4 speed

Re: C3 body dolly
Hi David,
Perhaps try your 64 Chassis Service Manual.
This is what I could find on line; it's for 65+ frames.
It's the equivalent of what I based the body mount locations on for my dolly drawing for my 71.

Alan

Re: C3 body dolly
Hey Alan
I like the looks of your body dolly design. Good support at each of the body mount points. I did have a concern about support for the very front of the body as there was no additional support shown on your drawings. However, on the photo it looks like you also have some supports for the front of the body on the front dolly frame. Do you have some pics or dimensions for that? I will be doing a C2 so it may be a bit different but it would help to see what you have there.
Thanks so much for the drawing and pics!Mike Andresen
