Re: Lacquer Paint.
Hi James,
The fellow who painted my car, (and allowed me to help a little), is pretty much a one person operation.
He's been restoring Chevy cars, and mostly Corvettes for about 35 years. He hasn't made the switch away from acrylic lacquer.
My car still had the original paint on it and was un-hit.
I helped strip the old paint off (there was incredibly little!) and then removed the 2 primer coats.
He sprayed the bare fiberglass with DP90 Catalyzed Epoxy Primer and DZ3 light gray primer.
He bought 7 quarts of color paint. There was about 1 quart left for me to keep.
It's been painted 11+ years now and as lacquer does continues to get prettier.
My car lives a VERY easy life so the paint hasn't suffered at all.
I remember it well the day I brought it home from the dealer and I think his paint job mimics very closely what it looked like.
Maybe just a bit nicer!
Regards,
Alan
