    Reproduction T3 Headlights

I must be way behind the times. I understood that the Lectric Limited reproduction T3s had a DOT designation on the face of the lens.

I am seeing reproduction T3 headlights advertised on Ebay that apparently do not have a DOT designation visible and with a disclaimer that they are FOR SHOW and OFF ROAD USE ONLY.

Anyone know the story on these?

Can't help you with the ebay ones but went out and looked on the lectric limited ones on my 68 and there is no DOT designation.
P.S. As far as I know the 60-67 T3s are still available from lectric limited.

      Don:

I have judged cars with reproduction T3 headlights and they had a small DOT on the lens. As a judge, I always looked for this. When I heard about a year ago that Lectric Limited and Wagner Electric were discontinuing the reproduction T3 headlights, I ordered a set from ZIP for my 1967 car to keep as a spare. When they arrived they did NOT have any DOT on the face, but clearly said Wagner Electric on the backside of the bulb. Others have reported similar findings. The box was also not a Lectric Limited logo box, but was plain white cardboard.

I don't know what changed and when, but it appears that the current 1967 reproduction bulbs MAY not have DOT on the lens anymore. I heard that this occurred many years ago also for a short time, but I cannot recall the details or exact time period. But for me and a few others we have almost exact reproductions of these headlights, and no visible DOT......................and a little more light than the originals. That is all good news.

Thanks, I think I'll just order a set from Lectric Limited

I've seen some judges give full credit for repro T3 because they miss the DOT, even though it's there, probably because they don't look for it carefully or because judging in the bright sun makes it harder to see. For the repros bulbs that I've seen that have the DOT, it is findable if you know where to look and and take the time to spot it.

I can't add to the discussion of some repros not having the DOT, but I've heard the same story.
