Starting restoration on my 57 and hope to someday have it flight judged. If you were doing this would you powder coat frame ( and any other suspension parts) or would you just paint them? Just wondering if anyone has been penalized for powder coated parts or if it is worth the deduction.

Re: Brian B.
Long time member, Brian, and your first post...welcome to the TDB!!! I have my frame powder coated (along with sundry other parts) and, YES, you will take a deduct in Flight judging...NTFP (not typical factory production. Enjoy the restoration on one of my favorite year Corvettes.Leif

Re: Brian B.
i have poder coated the last couple of c-1 and c-2s I've restored, then spray a thin coat of SEM semi-gloss black paint over the poser coating. chassis judges haven't noted the NTFP. i do so as paint alone will chip and then rust if small stones impact the paint. mike- Top
