I know Joe Calcagno wrote an article years ago in the Restorer for C1 hood pull repair. However, a 67 is certainly dissimilar to those. Anyone experienced with undetectable repairs of the 67 type. Mine is typical--the cable is too short (broken off).

Re: 67 hood pull repair?
Mike, I would bet they can be repaired, but you need a replacement wire cable the correct dia. just cut off the cable at the handle, as close as you can, then drill out what's left in the handle and install the cable and crimp and soldier the cable to handle. years ago when I work for a GM dealer we use to have a cable repair kit to repair temp.and mode door cable's, and had a special tool to make the loop's back onto the cables. what might work is if you could find the old Holley carb. manual choke pull cable, it should be long enough.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 67 hood pull repair?
Mike, The way I fix them is to find some old junk cars or trucks for the late 60's early 70's for donor cables. They were loaded with Bowden cables for all kinds of vent and temp. controls. Place the pull handle in a vise with about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of the shank above the vise using something that will not mar the shank. Heat the shank only and pull the wire straight up out of the shank. Might need a block of wood or something to get some leverage and pry the wire out of the shank. Most are swedged in about 3/8 of an inch. Then I drill the shank just a little deeper with a bit the small size as the wire and it also cleans the hole. Then silver solder the donor wire in the shank by heating only the shank. Place it back in the outer jacket and cut it off to the length you need.- Top
