    VIN tag attachment question

I have run across a 63 convertible that has the original VIN tag attached to the Z bar with two pop rivets. The original spot welds (3 of them) are clear and obvious.

The VIN tag matches the VIN on the frame, and also matches the paperwork that the owner has for the car.

There are no legal issues with the car or this VIN.

How would NCRS treat something like this?

VIN tag attachment not typical of factory production? What sort of deduction is involved here?

    Inquiring minds....

    Re: VIN tag attachment question

Ed, as I recall the VIN tag is not attached to points. The Team Leader needs to make a decision, is the tag legit or counterfeit. If counterfeit judging is all over. If legit flight judging proceeds.

Ed, to add to Harry's post its also well know that they had spot weld issues with 63 and I think that rivets are accepted. as long as there is proof as Harry says.

i've got a 63 fi roadster with its vin attached with both spot welds(****ty factory line worker technique) and a pair of pop rivets. the vin plate has never been removed from the z-bar. both i and roy sinor consider this not atypical for the 63 and 64 trim plate attachment methodology. mike
