Re: No more fuel filter nut threads in my 1970 Quadrajet

I agree. Fuel leaks or potential fuel leaks are nothing to mess around with. However, the Heli-Coil repair for the Q-Jet inlet fitting, if done properly, makes the carb as good or, even, better than new. The Heli-Coil insert threads are much stronger, harder and more durable than the original threads. As far as other repair methodologies, I can't speak to them. But, many epoxies are very impervious to gasoline. These are often used to repair and seal the soft plug on the front of the inlet fitting of 68-72 Q-Jets and the soft plugs on the bottom of the float bowl assembly. I've never heard of any problems with this sort of repair.
