I would sooner see someone put a service replacement carb or part on than mess around patching such a critical area as the fuel inlet fitting. John D

I agree. Fuel leaks or potential fuel leaks are nothing to mess around with. However, the Heli-Coil repair for the Q-Jet inlet fitting, if done properly, makes the carb as good or, even, better than new. The Heli-Coil insert threads are much stronger, harder and more durable than the original threads. As far as other repair methodologies, I can't speak to them. But, many epoxies are very impervious to gasoline. These are often used to repair and seal the soft plug on the front of the inlet fitting of 68-72 Q-Jets and the soft plugs on the bottom of the float bowl assembly. I've never heard of any problems with this sort of repair.

Had mine done at Quadrajetparts.com, I believe the are in New Jersey. Disassembled the carb and sent them the main body, they machined and helicoiled it. Have run the carb this summer, A perfect fix. Maybe check out their site?

Finally got back here to report my great success with getting my 1970 Quadrajet Heli-Coil from quadrajetparts.com. They did a fantastic job! Cost $76, well spent, plus I ordered additional needed carb parts. I got my 70 big block running again in June, runs better now then it ever did. Thank you everyone for your ideas and help. Highly recommend quadrajetparts.com

It's good to hear you're back on the road.

A well tuned LS-5 with a properly set up Q-Jet is one of the best street engines I've experienced.
