Door handles 65

On 65 door handles org did they have a small ridge on the back side where your fingers grab the handle ?
and if you got your handles re chromed the chrome guy would buff the ridge out - therefore making it smooth ?

Just a comment from a judge, no points we're deducted - I've never come across this before .
