'69 427 Valve Cover J-clip

Hi everyone,

I have a '69 L68 (Jan build) with what I believe are the original valve covers but can't be sure. One thing that's throwing me is the left one has a J clip welded on, lower side, just after the 2nd bolt going back to front. My other '69 which is an L71 (Nov '68 build) does not have that clip but I know there could have been some changes made. Anyone know if that clip could be correct and if so what would it be used for. Only thing I can think of is to loop the temp sensor wire into it.

According to the Judging Manual, this clip should be there. Don't know why I didn't think of checking their before asking but it's always nice to hear what others have found on their cars.
