Muncie Transmission Tail Shaft Housing

I have a '63 Muncie M20 with a leak at the main case to tail shaft housing . Is it possible to remove the tailshaft housing with the transmission still in the car to repair the leak ? Joe

Joe, the easier route is to remove the transmission, I do not think the housing will come off there is a reverse shaft attached to the housing that is about 8 to 10 inch's long. and you will likely have to reseal the whole case. there are two sections of gaskets at the rear, once you break away the tail shaft the other section will likely break away with it.

I agree with Edward. Even if it could be done in the car (and I really don't think it could be), it will be more of a problem than just removing the transmission.
